The Invitation

We have been invited again for the AIS hackathon that will be happening in Senegal. As we obviously cannot all afford this, ISOC was kind enough to sponsor one representative from hackers.mu to participate in this hackathon.

Who Is Going

We have internally decided to select Nitin (Jaykishan Mutkawoa) to lead that mission. He is going as an NTP champion. To note that Loganaden will be present there as well as an Afrinic Employee and NOT as a hackers.mu member this time though. Loganaden, let's not forget, is a quite a shining Employee at Afrinic and has as well been very active in the Local and international hacking scene and has even co-authored an RFC document, i.e RFC8270 as a hackers.mu member as well as several IETF draft.

A reminder that in the last IETF 101 hackathon, Nitin led the younger members pretty well and was an example in terms of hardwork and discipline. Which is why we believe he will be leading this hackathon nicely. As always, he knows he can count on his fellow hackers.mu members even if we are all remote on this one!

Goals of the Hackathon

The goal of this hackathon are as follows:

  • Make NTP more secure (Privacy)
  • Using WireShark NTP Plugin to read/analyze NTP traffic
  • Code changes to NTP implementations to make them compliant with the draft

We can get more information about this hackathon here

We would like to thanks ISOC, AIS, IETF Africa  and all others who make these kinds of events possible and who are sponsoring others who are far away to be able to attend such events. This again proves that with the little that we have, when united together we can do something great.

You are welcome to join us and hack together, please drop us a mail.

Till then,

Happy hacking!
